Homeroom Hospitality

English | Español

Taking part in your child’s education is one of the most important things a parent can do. One way to get involved is to volunteer as your child’s Homeroom Parent.

Homeroom parent volunteers serve as the liaisons between the school, the teachers and the classes. Helping the PTA organize fun classroom events is the main responsibility of homeroom parent volunteers. The homeroom parent volunteers are not expected to do everything themselves; rather, they coordinate volunteers from their child’s class to ensure fun, successful events for everyone.  We have outlined the general responsibilities of the homeroom parent volunteers:

  • Help your child’s teacher plan and execute the four class parties held each school year: Halloween, Time of Giving (December), Valentine’s Day, and the End of Year Picnic
  • Coordinate classroom parents to serve pie for the Thankful Lunch in November.
  • Coordinate classroom parents to serve ice cream for Field Day in June.
  • Help gather class contributions for the Silent Auction: This involves choosing a theme and coordinating with the classroom parents to create an item that will be auctioned off at the Silent Auction.
  • Coordinate meals and snacks for teachers during teacher conferences and teacher and staff Appreciation Weeks.

If you are interested in being a Homeroom Parent Volunteer, please sign up with your child’s teacher at Back-to-School Night on September 21, 2011.
