Join the PTA
The PTA (Parent Teacher Association) brings parents and teachers together so they can help improve the lives and education of students. A strong partnership between home and school benefits students, parents, teachers and administrators. Being involved in your child’s school experience is rewarding, and joining the PTA is an easy way to do so. Below is a list of frequently asked questions.
How do I join the PTA?
Simply sign up and pay dues of $5.00 per adult. Membership automatically enrolls you in the local, state and national PTA. Provide your information on the front of the attached envelope and include a check made payable to the Claremont PTA or cash for the total dues amount. Return the envelope to your child’s homeroom teacher. Dues support PTA activities benefiting Claremont students and teachers.
When are PTA meetings?
Generally, PTA meetings are held in the school library on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 pm. In September, however, the meeting will be on September 13th at 7pm. All PTA meetings are listed in the Claremont School Calendar and on the Claremont PTA website, www.claremont-pta.org. Child care and Spanish translation are provided.
How can I volunteer? Fill out the enclosed volunteer form, and return it to your child’s homeroom teacher. To volunteer, you can contact a committee chair, the PTA Executive Board or the volunteer coordinator, Clair Sassin, or sign up when volunteers are specifically requested. A description of each committee is enclosed and is available on the Claremont PTA website, www.claremont-pta.org.
How do I get on the listserv?
Sign up! Two listservs exist for Claremont parents. The Claremont PTA listserv is used by the PTA to communicate information (e.g., weekly schedules, upcoming events, Sally Foster deadlines, etc.) to PTA members, teachers and staff. Parrots Prattle is for general non-PTA related discussions (e.g., announcing child care needs, or recommending a local contractor, community goings-on, etc.). To subscribe, send an email to the following addresses:
